It’s tough enough running a successful irrigation business, but as the boss of Turf Irrigation Services in Queensland, Brett Peel, Managing Director, will be competing in the Ultra-Trail Australia 2017 Marathon this weekend in Katoomba, New South Wales.
A keen runner and sport’s enthusiast for many years, Brett needed a mid-life crisis to get him into ultra marathon running. This weekend’s Ultra-Trail Marathon, being held in the beautiful Blue Mountains of New South Wales, will be his second ultra marathon after finishing his last one about 3 years ago.
Over this weekend, more than 5,000 participants are expected for the 10th anniversary of the Ultra-Trail Marathon, the biggest international trail running event in the southern hemisphere. Competitors from around the world will compete in this weekend’s event from all walks of life and from all age groups.

In the 100km race, participants must battle stairways and steep descents ranging from sea level to an elevation of 1,100 metres, all while negotiating the precarious elements of the Blue Mountains.
While we go about our day today and enjoy a sleep-in over the weekend, think of the competitors making it through these grueling conditions. We wish Brett the best for the competition and hope he makes it back in one piece for work on Monday.
