For the past 18 months, TIS have been involved in the upgrade to irrigation works for the Mitchelton Football Club located in Mitchelton, Brisbane.
Mitchelton Football Club is a large football club with over 1,300 active playing members. Due to constant demands on the club’s playing surfaces, the club’s Strategic Plan identified the need for a water harvesting and storage system to better maintain their fields. This required the drilling of a bore, stormwater capture, water harvesting from a nearby natural water source and the installation of a 233,000 litre tank. This new irrigation system was then integrated with the club’s existing irrigation infrastructure.
Roger McIntosh, President of the Mitchelton Football club says “a large project like this needed constant communication between myself and other key stakeholders such as the Brisbane City Council and State
Government Departments. TIS has demonstrated expertise in all areas of design and construction and have always had the best interests of the club at the forefront of their plans as they strove to deliver the best possible result.”
The upgrade to the club’s irrigation system has made significant improvements to the club in relation to time, money and managing the sporting field’s irrigation requirements.
The club is still taking registrations for the 2017 season but positions are filling up fast. Some teams have begun wait lists due to the popularity of the club and the large membership base.
